The POWER project work team met today to organize the upcoming Future Technological Trends Workshop, a key activity within Work Package 2 (Research and Lexicon Development).
About the Workshop
The Future Technological Trends Workshop represents a crucial “prebunking” initiative within the POWER project. This hybrid event will bring together 15-20 European experts in clean energy, including industry representatives, academics, researchers, and policymakers.
The workshop’s primary objective is to identify and map emerging clean energy technologies that could potentially be vulnerable to future disinformation campaigns. By anticipating these risks before they materialize, the project team aims to develop proactive defence strategies and educational resources.
Strategic Importance
While the project currently works to counter false narratives about established renewable energy sources like solar and wind, it must also look forward to anticipate how emerging technologies—such as advanced battery systems, green hydrogen, smart grids, and next-generation clean energy solutions—might become targets for weaponized misinformation.
The insights gathered from this workshop will be integrated into the project’s multilingual lexicon of clean energy concepts, currently being developed in English, Spanish, Romanian, and Russian.
The workshop is organized by the University of Malta, with participation from all partner institutions: Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain), Academia Națională de Informații “Mihai Viteazul” (Romania), and Asociația Eurocomunicare (Romania).
The outcomes will complement findings from the recently completed Task Force 1 activities and will inform the development of educational materials, digital storylines, and evidence-based communication strategies for promoting clean energy literacy.
More details about the workshop, including dates and key findings, will be announced following the event.
