Researching clean energy to counter disinformation

Misinformation undermines progress towards clean energy solutions. Through innovative research and collaborative efforts, the POWER Project aims to uncover key insights, debunk false narratives, and provide the tools needed to build a more informed and resilient society.

Exploring concepts, countering misinformation, and shaping the future of clean energy

The POWER project is based on rigorous research to address the complexity of clean energy and disinformation. By analysing key concepts, mapping emerging trends and understanding how disinformation spreads, we aim to equip stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to promote energy literacy and resilience. A cornerstone of this effort is the creation of a comprehensive multilingual lexicon and narrative matrix — resources designed to bridge gaps and build shared understanding across disciplines, sectors and countries.

POWER Research Activities

Our approach

Our research is characterised by collaboration and innovation, bringing together experts, practitioners and stakeholders to explore clean energy and disinformation from different perspectives. Here’s how we do this:

1. Stakeholder task forces

Working groups made up of clean energy experts, industry leaders, academics, researchers and policy makers identify and validate critical concepts for clean energy security.

2. Analysing disinformation

Using state-of-the-art methods, we analyse how misrepresentations about clean energy technologies are created and disseminated, providing actionable insights to combat misinformation.

3. Mapping future trends

Emerging clean energy technologies are analysed in workshops with European experts to anticipate future challenges and add forward-looking concepts to the lexicon.

4. Development of the lexicon

Our multilingual lexicon, available in English, Spanish, Romanian and Russian, is an important tool for understanding and addressing clean energy challenges. It supports educators, professionals and researchers in their work and enables effective communication and action.

5. Developing a narrative matrix

We create a narrative matrix that serves as a guide for developing effective and informative digital storylines. Based on the analysis of clean energy concepts and disinformation narratives, this matrix will help develop messages that effectively counter misinformation and appeal to different audiences.

Get involved

Explore the lexicon, join our research efforts, and become a part of the conversation on clean energy. Together, we can shape a future that is informed, resilient, and sustainable.

Why It Matters?

Understanding clean energy concepts and countering disinformation are critical for ensuring a sustainable future. By connecting research with practical tools, the POWER Project equips stakeholders with the means to:

  • Advocate for clean energy solutions.
  • Recognise and debunk misinformation.
  • Contribute to a global transition towards a climate-neutral society.
