Welcome to the Clean Energy Café Spain (29 June – 3 July 2026, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos). This page is your practical guide for the five days.

Sessions run from 9:00 to 16:30 (Monday to Thursday) and close at 13:00 on Friday. On the first day, please arrive at 8:45 for registration.

Each day includes a coffee break (in the room H119-Hospital de San Carlos) and lunch at the Aranjuez-Pavía campus cafeteria.

Venue

The Clean Energy Café takes place at the URJC Aranjuez Campus – Edificio Hospital San Carlos, in Room H119.

⚠️ Please note: there are several URJC campuses in Aranjuez. Make sure you go to URJC Aranjuez – Edificio Hospital San Carlos.

First-day registration

We will welcome you on Monday 29 June at 8:45 at the main entrance of the Edificio Hospital San Carlos. Once inside, you’ll find our registration desk in the hall — look for the roll-up banner with the POWER logo. There, the POWER team will give you your accreditation and course documentation.

Coffee break & lunch

A coffee break is provided each day in the same building. Lunch takes place at the student cafeteria of the Aranjuez-Pavía Campus, an 8-minute walk away, and a daily lunch ticket is included with your course documentation.

Wifi

You can connect via Eduroam using the details you’ll find in the classroom, or via WiFi POWER (to be confirmed).

Working in international teams

The Clean Energy Café is a hands-on, learning-by-doing experience. Throughout the week you’ll work in international teams of four, bringing together participants from different countries and backgrounds.

Teams are pre-assigned by the organisers and announced on the first morning, so there’s nothing to prepare in advance — just come ready to collaborate. Each team stays together across all five days, building a single counter-narrative campaign step by step, from the initial narrative map on Day 1 to the final pitch on Day 5.

Equipment & computer access

Room H119 is equipped with computers for use throughout the course, so you don’t need to bring your own laptop unless you prefer to.

URJC students can log in with their usual URJC username and password. Visiting participants from partner institutions will receive personal login details by email before the course begins.

For some activities you’ll use your own smartphone — for the augmented-reality scenario and on-site photo capture — so please bring it fully charged each day.

If you’d like to keep working in the afternoons, study rooms are also available at the Aranjuez-Hospital San Carlos Campus.

Course Materials & Tools

Prepare for the week ahead with a set of interactive materials designed to get you practising before you arrive. You’ll explore how clean energy disinformation spreads, work through real cases such as the 2025 Spanish blackout, and get familiar with the fact-checking and counter-narrative tools used throughout the course.

There’s no need to work through everything in advance — we’ll go through each resource and tool step by step during the course. Exploring them beforehand simply means you’ll arrive ready to make the most of the in-person sessions.

Certification & badge

All participants who complete the Clean Energy Café receive a certificate of attendance and the Clean Energy Disinformation Analyst digital badge, which formally recognises the skills you’ve developed during the week.

To earn them, you’ll need to:

Attend at least 90% of the five-day programme, including the experiential scenarios.
Take part actively in group discussions, workshops and the collaborative team project.
Complete the practical exercises, contributing to your team’s deliverables across the five days.
Complete the assessments, including the pre-test on Day 1 and the post-test on Day 5.

The badge is aligned with European frameworks such as DigComp 2.2 and ESCO, highlighting your competence in digital literacy, communication and content creation. It’s a shareable digital credential you can add to your CV or professional profiles such as LinkedIn.

In addition, URJC undergraduate students will receive academic recognition of 1.5 ECTS credits towards the RAC (Reconocimiento Académico de Créditos) requirement.

Sessions end in the afternoon, leaving you free to enjoy your stay. Make the most of it by exploring Aranjuez and Madrid.

Aranjuez

A historic town known for its royal heritage, gardens and relaxed riverside atmosphere. While you’re here, you can:

Stroll through the historic centre and the riverside areas.
Visit the impressive Royal Palace of Aranjuez.
Explore its famous gardens, such as the Prince’s Garden and the Island Garden.
Enjoy local cafés, restaurants and traditional Spanish cuisine.

Madrid

Optional guided tour — Tuesday 30 June

For those interested, we can arrange a free guided tour of Aranjuez with a specialised local company on Tuesday 30 June, from approximately 19:00 to 20:45. Led by a local guide, the tour offers a close look at the most interesting sights of Aranjuez, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Radio guides are provided for all participants at no cost.
